April - June 2023
As an intern at Qualcomm Institute's Center for Cyber-Archeology and Sustainability, I worked to develop an interactive Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) classroom experience.
We were tasked with designing a digital twin of a UC San Diego classroom so students physically present could enter the Metaverse with students not present and interact with each other in real time.
We streamlined a complex process to export the entire Revit model of the building into Unreal Engine using a combination of Dataprep and Datasmith. Once imported, I was also responsible for modifying the original Revit model to match the built environment. There were several discrepancies between the two due to renovations and construction changes.

Reference photographs of the real classroom
We aligned a point cloud scan to our Unreal Engine model, allowing us to reference the real classroom as we designed the virtual one.

I also added critical details to the model with Unreal Engine; adding custom textures and importing BIM models of furniture and other classroom accessories into the virtual environment.
